Day 4 - a possible speed bump?

We hit what could have been a very costly and time consuming speed bump today: ledge. Ledge is a layer or mass of rock underground and can be very hard to break up with just a backhoe and excavator. Sometimes a machine needs to be brought in to break it up that can cost up to $2500 a day! Luckily, we have a great site guy who worked at it all day and was able to break most of it up. The bonus: we have TONS of rocks to use for a retaining wall! We also need to raise the foundation up about a foot to make up for the ledge, but that solves another issue we were having with the elevations anyway! So happy faces all around!

I still can't believe all the work they've done in just 4 days! Our contractor told us today that we will probably have concrete in by Friday! I wait every day for Al to get home and we go over to the land together to see for the first time all the work that was done. It's like Christmas morning every evening!! :-)
