Snap back to reality...

A picture I will never grow tired of seeing:

Every once in awhile, all sense of reality is thrown out the window, everything we believe to be true is challenged, and expected outcomes wither under the intense pressure of the moment. The outcome of Superbowl XLIV falls into such a category. Virgil said, "Fortune favors the bold" and, after the abomination of the Indianapolis Colts throwing the final two games of their season, snubbing their noses at making history and shying away from daring to be legends, there was in my mind no more justifiable and satisfying an outcome than their loss to the Saints. Having Peyton Manning throw the game clinching pick-six... well, that's just the cherry on top of the Sundae.

Peyton Manning gets praise for being one of the greatest QB's of all-time and, for the most part, rightfully so. However, regardless of the fact he won a ring, he is still merely a mediocre QB when the stakes get to their highest. From high school on, besides the ring in 2006, Peyton Manning has never won at any level, despite being the best player on top teams at all levels. Even in 2006 when the Colts won the Superbowl, Manning threw only 3TD's to 7INT's in the post season. Hardly the stats you would expect from someone of Manning's stature.

Manning is not done and he still has time to alter how he is perceived but, as it stands now, a 9-9 post season record still keeps him below the likes of Joe Montana (16-7) and Tom Brady (14-4).
